Visit Patna - The Mauryan Capital of Ancient India

Patna is an ancient city that is really enchanting with its blend of old and new and legendry culture. Three holy rivers Ganga, Sone and Poonpun flow through this city that has a glorious past. Today this has become a bustling city full of life though its royal heritage speaks of the times when the greatest emperors of the country like Gupta, Maurya and Ashoka walked on its lands. The lovers of history will find this place a treasure to adore and a haven of cultural tourism.

If you want to explore the historical places of Patna, you can reach the place by train or flight. There is a domestic airport in the city that is connected to major cities of India. Also there it is connected by long distance trains with major cities of the nation. So reaching Patna is fairly easy. If you want to reach by road, then the national highways 30, 31 and 19 pass through the city making it easier to access.

Patna is not only a historical place but also a religious place and the 10th Sikh Guru Guru Gobind Singh was born here. Har Mandir Saheb, his birth place is one of the holy places of Sikhism. There is a museum in Patna that has more than 50,000 rare objects. The beautiful statue of Yakshani and the holy relic casket with the holy ashes of Lord Buddha are attracting features at this museum.

There is a zoo at Patna known as Sanjay Gandhi Botanical and Zoological Garden. The bridge that connects Patna and Hajipur called Mahatma Gandhi Setu is one of the places of visit. Padri Ki Haveli, Gandhi Museum, Vaishali Stupa and Buddha Memorial Park are some other nearby attractions.

You can enjoy lots of fun when at Patna such as taking a boat ride in the Ganges near Gandhi Ghat, playing golf at the Patna golf club, having dinner at the Revolving Restaurant and visiting the Vaishali Ashokan Pillar and Kali Temple at Patna University Campus. The Revolving Restaurant is located on the 18th floor of the Biscomaun Bhavan near Gandhi Maidan. It takes about an hour for one revolution and you can sit on that and take a view at the city on the whole.

The restaurants in Pune offer you some delicious local dishes like Litti Chokha, Tikki Chaat, Anarsa, Dahi Chura Chini, Tilkut Khaja and Makhana, etc. Some good restaurants are located in Mauryalok Complex and Boring Road. Patna is also famous for its varieties of sweets and has many popular sweet parlors in the city. Not all the restaurants here have bar attached to it. The Pinch Balluchi restaurant and bar is located on the Revolving Floor of the Biscomaun Bhawan in Gandhi Maidhan.
